AFTER SPUTNIK V , RUSSIA APPROVES SECOND COVID VACCINE

After the World's first coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V, Siberia-based Vector State Research Centre of Virology and Biotechnology receive regulatory approval for the two-shot vaccine, EpiVacCorona. It was tested among 100 volunteers in early-stage. These placebo-controlled human trials lasted more than two months and were completed two weeks ago. The volunteers were between 18 and 60 years old. HOW IT WORKS?

EpiVacCorona is based on chemically synthesized peptide antigens of SARS-CoV-2 proteins, conjugated to a carrier protein, and adsorbed on an aluminium-containing adjuvant. Still, scientists have not published any result of the studies which caused international scepticism and criticism for such haste. Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova tested the EpiVacCorona vaccine herself and said it caused her no side effects.

State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology VECTOR

It is Serbia based laboratory formed in 1974, headquartered at Koltsovo, Russia, and had a profound contribution to smallpox research in Russia. Well, it was known for its contribution to Genetic engineering projects and contribution in projects like a vaccine for Hepatitis A, influenza vaccines, vaccines for the Ebola virus, etc. It had also played a significant role in "Genetic Warfare'' research during the Soviet regime.

World's First Covid-19 vaccine: "Sputnik-V.''

Sputnik-V or Gam-COVID-Vac developed by Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology is the World's first Covid-19 vaccine which got approval. Unlike with the EpiVacCorona, Sputnik V, is based on adenovirus vector-based vaccine, which faced criticism for its authenticity and not releases of phase-3 results. Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said around 14% of Volunteers to Sputnik V Report Side-Effects Including Fever & Weakness inter alia but satisfied or content with the efficiency of the vaccine.

After the approval of EpiVacCorona President Vladimir Putin tweeted that the third vaccine is also almost ready.
